16–20 Townsend Street, 48 Townsend Street, and Holworthy S-20 & S-21

Holworthy S-20 & S-21

The Garrison-Trotter Neighborhood Association (GTNA) has proposed creating a zen garden named for the retired Boston Public School teacher and Roxbury pioneer Alma Wright. The zen garden will be a place where students and staff from the Trotter Elementary School, located across Holworthy Street, as well as community members, can enjoy nature and learn about their community.

48 Townsend Street

This parcel will become an agricultural oasis for community and educational use. The property will be an area where people in the community can learn to garden and gather outdoors. This empty lot will be transformed into a tranquil, urban garden with opportunities for the community to grow fresh food to address food insecurity in the community.

16–20 Townsend Street

This property will be an organized urban wild open space for the community. The space will be a place where community members can gather outdoors for social, mental, and physical well-being.

In addition, all sites will have an educational impact on the community. The GTNA will partner with and provide outdoor classroom space to encourage local schools and programs to learn and grow right in their communities. This education will not only come in the form of agricultural lessons but also those related to Roxbury and its rich history.
