Dudley Greenville Rental Housing Project to Bring 43 New Units to Roxbury

The BRA Board approved a new rental housing project that will bring 43 new units to Roxbury. Known as the Dudley Greenville Project, the project includes the construction of a new mixed use facility in two buildings with the 43 rental units as well as approximately 3,000 square feet of retail and commercial space. All of the rental units will be affordable to households earning up to 60% of area median income. Of the 43, nine will be set aside as tenant-based Section 8 units. The $16 million project will create 100-150 construction jobs and 5-10 permanent jobs. Construction is expected to begin in fall 2011.

Building A, an approximately 22,654 square foot, five-story mixed use structure will contain the 3,000 square feet of retail and commercial space at the street level and 31 residential units on the upper floors. Building B, an approximately 15,515 square foot, four-story residential structure will contain the remaining 12 residential units.The project site consists of two non-consecutive lots on Dudley Street in close proximity to Dudley Square in Roxbury. The lots are also bounded by Greenville Street, Pevear Place and Bard Avenue.

The development team consists of Madison Park Development Corporation as the owner and developer; Narrow Gates Architects and Audrey O’Hagan Architects as the project architect; Howard Stein Hudson as the traffic and transportation consultant; Meridian Associates as the civil engineer; MacRostie Historic Advisors as the historic consultant; and Klein Horing LLP as the legal counsel.
