BRA Issues RFP for Brighton Planning Study

The BRA is issuing a Request for Proposals (“RFP”) for a consultant or consultant team that have demonstrated excellence in integrating the disciplines of planning and urban design, market analysis, and transportation systems to prepare and develop a Brighton Planning Study.

The Brighton Planning Study will be comprehensive. It will examine two (2) or three (3) alternate development scenarios and their economic and physical impacts. Development alternatives will be produced and corresponding recommendations for appropriate mix of uses, urban design massing, and public realm improvements, traffic mitigation measures, and economic development opportunities identified. All development scenarios, impacts and recommendations must be evaluated in the context of existing uses in the study area as well as impacts on the surrounding Brighton neighborhood.

The Study must examine and determine the impacts of different uses including retail, housing, and light industrial, as well as office and expansion of existing business headquarters. Of particular focus is how to utilize surface parking lots and the underutilized former light industrial buildings to their best potential in contributing to a transformation of the study area.
The RFP may be purchased beginning Monday, November 8, 2010 from the Executive Director/Secretary Office, Boston Redevelopment Authority, Boston City Hall, One City Hall Square, 9th Floor, by making a check payable to the Boston Redevelopment Authority (in the amount of One Hundred and Fifty dollars ($150.00) as a non-refundable fee. Only those respondents who purchase a copy of the RFP from the BRA will be eligible to submit a proposal. The BRA staff will be available to assist.

All responses to this RFP must be returned no later than 12 noon on Monday, January 3, 2010 to Mr. Brian P. Golden, Secretary, BRA, Boston City Hall, One City Hall Square, 9th Floor, Boston, MA 02201-1007. No responses will be accepted after the due date and time. The BRA reserves the right to reject any or all proposals.
