Mayor Menino Welcomes NaviNet to Boston
Mar 24, 2011
Leading healthcare technology company moves headquarters bringing 200 jobs to historic building on Lincoln Street to accommodate its rapid expansion
Mayor Thomas M. Menino welcomes leading healthcare technology company
NaviNet
to Boston, bringing over marking one of the largest business relocations to the city in recent history. NaviNet occupies more than 65,000 square feet in a fully restored, sustainable historic building at 179 Lincoln Street overlooking the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway. The relocation will support NaviNet’s rapid growth, provide resources and amenities to meet the Company’s evolving business and employee needs, and further enhance Boston’s reputation as the country’s epicenter for the healthcare and technology industries. “I am thrilled that
NaviNet
has chosen Boston as their permanent home,” said Mayor Thomas M. Menino. “Boston’s world class leadership in the healthcare industry as well as our creative and talented workforce make Boston an ideal location for companies like NaviNet. I am excited to work with them as they continue to expand their employment base in our city.” “Boston is unquestionably the country’s premier location for healthcare and technology innovation. Mayor Menino's team, led by John Palmieri and the Boston Redevelopment Authority, was instrumental in helping
NaviNet
establish its headquarters here,” said NaviNet President and CEO Brad Waugh. “Massachusetts, and the city of Boston in particular, boast leading healthcare and educational facilities, a thriving mix of health insurers and some of the world’s best hospitals. They are also home to extraordinary talented technology and healthcare professionals, which allows NaviNet to hire the best and brightest employees in pursuit of our mission to advance the efficiency and quality of healthcare.” NaviNet is the country’s largest health information network, used by physicians, health insurers and other healthcare professionals in all 50 states to securely exchange patient-related data. Over the past year, NaviNet served more than 51,000 physicians, clinicians and healthcare professionals in Massachusetts, including more than 7,100 in Boston alone. The company has continued to prosper even during a period of national economic slowdown, growing its headcount 35 percent in 2010 and expecting about 10 percent growth in headcount in 2011. Currently, NaviNet is hiring to fill at least 20 positions across several departments including engineering, sales, marketing, product management and project management. NaviNet’s new location offers many appealing amenities for its employees – more personal and collaborative workspace, better access to multiple forms of public transportation and a cosmopolitan setting in one of the country’s most vibrant cities. “NaviNet brings together some of the best minds in healthcare and communications technology,” said Chere Parton, National Head of Aetna Provider eSolutions. “For many years, NaviNet has brought technical excellence, resources and know-how to our collaborative efforts. Together we have delivered innovative and industry-leading electronic solutions that are making positive changes to the way healthcare is delivered today and helping Aetna provide our members access to affordable, quality health care. ”
