Mayor Menino Announces 1282 Boylston Approved by BRA Board

Housing: 210 residential units, 21 on site affordable The BRA board’s unanimous approval of 1282 Boylston Street will continue the transformation of the corridor into a pedestrian friendly destination for retail, business, and residential uses. The 331,000 square foot project that will be developed by The Abbey Group will replace an underutilized surface parking lot with 12,000 square feet of ground floor retail space, 88,000 square feet of office space, a 295 space below grade parking garage, and 210 housing units, including 21 affordable units. The $150 million project will include a 2,700 square foot ground floor community center furnished with computers and presentation equipment that will be maintained by the building management and available for use by the neighborhood.  Substantial investment in the reconstruction of the sidewalks in front of 1282 Boylston will include high-quality paving materials, landscaping, and lighting. The project will create 600 construction jobs and 360 permanent jobs that are convenient to public transportation.  The development team includes the Abbey Group, architects Bruner/Cott and Associates, and legal counsel Rubin and Rudman LLP. 1282 Boylston Street joins the $315 million Fenway Triangle Mixed Use project located at 1325 Boylston Street that was approved in September 2011.  Other recently completed developments in the neighborhood include Trilogy and 1330 Boylston Street, which have dramatically altered the Boylston Street streetscape and revitalized the Fenway neighborhood.
