ONEin3 Spotlight: Fields Corner Business Lab
Aug 01, 2014
Dorchester residents Travis Lee and his partner John Mauldin recently unveiled the Fields Corner Business Lab in Dorchester. Equipped with high speed Wi-Fi and cable, two printing and copying stations, and plenty of coffee and tea, the spot is ideal for both productivity and collaboration.
The Business Lab provides a space for the growing population of young professionals and entrepreneurs in Dorchester to launch their ideas, collaborate with others, and grow their businesses.
To create the desired space, Lee purchased a 99 year old, four-story building in the heart of Fields Corner. He knocked down the walls of most of the offices, leaving one large open workspace in the center of the building, and private offices along the perimeter.
The finished product sports an exposed beam interior, comfortable office chairs and couches, and a total of 4,500 square feet of space. The Business Lab, located on the fourth floor, touts clear views of Dorchester Bay and the downtown Boston Skyline. Lee and Mauldin plan to open a café on the ground floor, where young professionals and entrepreneurs can meet to discuss business over coffee.
Lee is a resident of Fields Corner in Dorchester, where he lives with his wife and four children.
