Boston’s neighborhoods are evolving, our skyline changing, and the BRA plays a critical role in this transformation. Together with community members and developers, we’re building new housing to accommodate our growing population, creating new office and retail space to add new jobs, producing new hotel rooms to welcome visitors, replacing vacant lots to knit together neighborhoods, and generating new property tax to make our city services better.
At the heart of this work is the BRA’s Article 80 development review process. Article 80 provides clear guidelines for evaluating large projects (adding more than 50,000 square feet of space), small projects (greater than 20,000 square feet), planned development areas (new overlay zoning districts for project areas larger than an acre), and institutional master plans (projects relating to academic and medical campuses).
To make navigating Article 80 easier for everyone – from seasoned professionals to neighborhood residents – our talented design and project management staff teamed up to create these handy infographics that lay out the review process in a way that is visually engaging and informative.
We all have a stake in the future growth of Boston, and public input is crucial to our success. We hope these infographics serve as a helpful tool for anyone interested in participating in the process.
