Local experts gather to discuss workforce development and education strategies in light of recent labor market report

Jun 17, 2016

The Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development (OWD) will partner with United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley to host a panel discussion on changing trends in the Boston labor market. The panel will explore strategies for addressing and closing disparities identified in Boston’s Labor Market Report, released by OWD and the Boston Redevelopment Authority’s (BRA) Research Division in March.

This report brings issues of income inequality and wage disparity among local workers into focus while underscoring a pressing need for education and job training resources for residents. Moderated by Karen Holmes Ward, a panel of experts from the City of Boston, United Way, Boston Medical Center, and the Boston Redevelopment Authority will look through the lens of equity to discuss the findings noted in the report and what can be done.
