The purpose of this Request for Proposals ("RFP") is to solicit proposals for the sale and redevelopment of property owned by the Boston Redevelopment Authority d/b/a Boston Planning & Development ("BPDA"), consisting of approximately 6,126 square feet of vacant land located in the Charlestown neighborhood of Boston, identified by the City of Boston Assessing Department as 516 R522 Main Street (Assessors’ Parcel No. 02-02624-000) and unnumbered Main Street (Assessors’ Parcel No. 02-02624-040) (collectively, the "Property"). The Property contains a modular structure operating as the Charlestown Emergency Medical Services (“EMS”) substation (hereinafter, the “existing EMS substation”). The Property is further identified as Parcel C-2A-5 in the Charlestown Urban Renewal Area, Project No. Mass. R-55 and is therefore subject to the controls and requirements of the Charlestown Urban Renewal Plan. The BPDA will consider conveying the Property for mixed-use development, either by itself or as part of a larger economic development project that includes private property. Any proposed development of the Property shall result in the delivery to the BPDA of a core and shell that the BPDA will dedicate to community and/or government use. This community benefit shall come at no cost to the BPDA. To the extent permissible under applicable law, the BPDA anticipates that this space may serve as a replacement EMS substation for the existing EMS substation.
