Northeastern University

Northeastern University has submitted an Institutional Master Plan Notification Form/Project Notification Form (IMPNF/PNF) for Northeastern University’s campus in Boston. Northeastern owns or leases 101 buildings within the City of Boston, totaling approximately 8.8 million square feet. This IMPNF/PNF proposes eight redevelopment sites, six of which were included in Northeastern’s 2013 IMP but were not constructed. These eight redevelopment sites total approximately 2.2 million SF of new construction. In addition to these sites, Northeastern has identified at least nine buildings in need of significant renovations and capital renewal efforts within its existing footprint in Boston. This IMPNF/PNF will provide an organizational framework for creating a physical plan and infrastructure for the Boston campus that will strengthen and celebrate Northeastern’s mission. Guided by its 2013 Institutional Master Plan, Northeastern is planning for the next ten years through the construction of several new projects and the redevelopment of older and underutilized buildings within the campus core. These projects will largely be driven by Northeastern’s academic mission as a global research university powered by experience. Northeastern is renowned for its experiential learning model, high-impact research, deep partnerships, and worldwide reach, and its physical presence in Boston is organized in such a way as to meet the current and future needs in education and research.
