New Research/ Medical Office Space Coming to 800 Huntington Avenue in Mission Hill

The Board approved the 800 Huntington Avenue project which will renovate and expand the existing building to accommodate a new state-of-the-art medical office building with an outpatient medical clinic to be operated by the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. The current building consists of a two-story concrete building constructed more than 50 years ago. The building most recently served as the home of the Immune Disease Institute (formerly known as the Center for Blood Research Institute.) The developer will complete renovate the existing building while also constructing a new structured parking facility located primarily at or below grade of the site and construct an additional-story above the existing building and parking structure. Retail and food service uses related to and servicing the proposed medical offices and outpatient clinic will occupy a portion of the first floor. Total project cost is estimated at $60 million. The developer plans to begin construction in the first quarter of 2011 with an estimated completion date in the fourth quarter of 2012. The developer expects the project to create 80 construction jobs. The development team includes The Beal Companies, LLP, as the owner/developer; Tsoi/Kobus & Associates as the project architect; GEI Consultants Inc. as the geotechnical and environmental engineer; Harry R. Feldman, Inc. as the surveyor; Howard/Stein-Hudson Associates, Inc. as the transportation engineer; and Robinson & Cole LLP as the permitting attorney.
