New Senior Housing Coming to Roxbury Crossing

Nov 17, 2010

The Board approved a new affordable senior housing development that will bring 40 new units to the Roxbury/Mission Hill neighborhoods. Known as the Roxbury Crossing Senior Building project, the developer intends to construct a new four-story building on six vacant lots on Gurney Street. The project includes 39 rental units and one on-site staff unit. The concept for the design, massing and use for this project was a result of the multi-year community planning process for Parcel 25 and adjacent parcels. Meeting the community objectives for the area, the project represents a transportation oriented development that will be LEED certifiable.

Total project cost is estimated at $10.5 million. The development team plans to begin construction in the fourth quarter of 2011, with an estimated completion date in the fourth quarter of 2012. The project is expected to create 35 construction jobs. The development team includes Mission Hill Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc., as the owner/developer; Goody Clancy as project architect; WilmerHale as project attorney; and McPhail Associates as the licensed site professional.
