Oct 30, 2014
On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of the Boston Redevelopment Authority and the Economic Development Industrial Corporation, we extend our deepest sympathies to Angela and the entire family of Mayor Thomas M. Menino. It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss an irreplaceable champion for our city.
Words cannot begin to express the profound impact that Mayor Menino had on Boston during his twenty years in office. He oversaw an unprecedented period of growth and investment that created opportunity for people from all walks of life and solidified Boston’s status as one of the great cities of the world.
From Dudley Square to the Innovation District, we see and feel Mayor Menino’s legacy in every corner of every neighborhood. It’s what makes us proud to call Boston home and what makes us eager to welcome newcomers.
We will remember Mayor Menino for his personal touch, his tireless work ethic, and his unyielding confidence in the potential of our city. While his constant presence and unmistakable voice will be missed, his belief that government, at its core, is about helping people will inspire us for generations to come.
