On March 27, the BRA and the
City of Boston will host an
Open House to allow community members to meet retailers who have submitted proposals for tenancy in the under-construction
Dudley Municipal/Ferdinand Building in Dudley Square, Roxbury.
The retailers who will be in attendence have responded to the Dudley Square Municipal Center Retail RFP, and have proposed retail concepts for the Dudley Municipal/Ferdinand Building. Several ground-floor retail spaces will be available upon completion of the new building, which will also house the consolidated
Boston Public Schools offices on the upper floors. The successful retail proponents will ideally offer community-desired amenities to benefit and complement the Dudley Square district's vibrant commercial mix. The
Dudley Vision Advisory Task Force, City of Boston staff, and consultants from
CBRE/Grossman Retail Advisors hosted educational Retail Workshops in previous months to inform local entrepreneurs about resources available for this exciting new retail opportunity. The retail RFP was jointly issued by the
City of Boston's Property Management & Construction Department and the BRA.
The Dudley Municipal/Ferdinand Building and associated retail RFP are components of the
Dudley Vision Project, a multi-year, City of Boston sponsored planning and economic development initiative to enhance Dudley Square. Additional projects in the area include the Dudley Square District Parking Analysis and the new Area B-2 Police Station (now complete). The Dudley Municipal/Ferdinand Building is set to open in the first quarter of 2015.
The Open House solely constitutes a community engagement opportunity for Roxbury and Dudley Square stakeholders and the public in general; and is not mandatory nor is it a part of the retail selection process.
