“imagine all the people” reports released as Mayor Walsh announces Immigrant Information Corners initiative

Today Mayor Martin J. Walsh launched the Immigrant Information Corners initiative at the Dudley Branch of the Boston Public Library and presented his broader vision for serving and engaging Boston's immigrant residents, who account for 27% of the City's population. The announcement, related to his overall vision for immigrant integration in the City of Boston, reiterated the Mayor’s commitment to empowering immigrants and recognizing their contributions to the City.

Coordinated with this announcement was the release of “imagine all the people,” a series of publications produced by the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) for the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Advancement (formerly the “Mayor’s Office of New Bostonians”).
 
Alvaro Lima, director of research for the BRA, noted that, "Boston's population is growing, becoming more educated and more diverse, and immigrants are a big part of that story."
 
The “imagine all the people” series provides a comprehensive profile of Boston’s diverse immigrant communities and their numerous contributions to Boston’s social, cultural and economic landscape. As part of an ongoing effort to celebrate new Bostonians and gain insight into how they shape our city, the reports focus on fifteen countries that many new Bostonians hail from, including:

In addition to the country-specific reports, another report released in January 2016 highlights all of Boston’s foreign born population.
