RFI for civic and cultural space at Lovejoy Wharf now available; site visit on December 15

Dec 02, 2016

The Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) has issued a Request for Letters of Interest (RFI) in conjunction with Related Lovejoy Residential, LLC (an affiliate of Related Beal). The RFI, linked here, is aimed at civic and cultural users with the ability and qualifications to occupy and program the interior space located at 131 Beverly Street at Lovejoy Wharf.

The space, a requirement of the project's Chapter 91 license, is designed as a visitor's center-style facility, where the general public can obtain information and orientation materials, wait for water transportation vessels, rent recreational water vessels, enjoy harbor views, gather for tours and other group activities, view maps, displays, exhibits, and more.

The space may also feature art, historic or cultural exhibits and must also be made available to community groups for meetings. At approximately 2,000 square feet, roughly 500 square feet of Lovejoy Wharf is designated for the public’s use and the remaining 1,500 square feet are designated for recreational programs and other business activities.

Any respondents to this RFI who are selected to enliven this civic and cultural space will depend on approval by Related Lovejoy Residential, LLC, the BPDA, and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP).

For more information on this RFI, please follow this link or attend an on-site information session on Thursday, December 15 at 10:30 a.m. at 226 Causeway Street, Boston, MA 02114. Attendance is encouraged, but not required to respond to this RFI.
