Charlestown Navy Yard Master Plan for the Yard's End
The product of 85 public meetings, this document codifies planning principles and zoning in the Charlestown Navy Yard. The Master Plan established the principle that the 13 acres of open space created to date, including Shipyard Park and Harborwalk, are recreational amenities for all of Charlestown; and anticipated institutional medical use at Yard’s End, which is the current location of Spaulding Hospital. The Master Plan focuses on balance—managing growth while “once again” making the Navy Yard a vital part of the larger Charlestown community.
