This publication compares Boston and its Neighborhoods to the U.S. and Massachusetts on several demographic, economic, and housing characteristics. This report uses a combination of 2010 Census data and 2006-2010 American Community Survey data.

Boston by the Numbers is a series created by the Research Division that highlights the characteristics of Boston's population and economy. Mark Melnik, Deputy Director for Research, spoke to a group convened by the Mayor's Office of Jobs and Community Services and the Boston Private Industry Council, as part of a new series called the Boston Workforce Issues Forum. He spoke about the 2010 Census and what's been learned in terms of demographic and socio-economic trends in Boston.
